The Velocitá is the latest addition to
the formidable Mercian range, employing both the
latest high-tech tubing and carbon fibre.
Originally designed around Reynolds 853 Pro Team
tubing and Dedaccia carbon fibre seat stays, chainstays
and forks, with 1 1/8" integrated hidden
headset.
The desire and need for something lighter than
the traditional steel frame prompted this concept.
Reynolds 853 is light and stiff but can give a
harsh ride when built with racing geometry.
This beautiful frame uses carbon chainstays and
carbon seatstays, carefully bonded to a Reynolds
lightweight steel diamond giving a stiff frame
but the ride is much different!
Jeff Bowler - Mercian's Shop Manager and life-long
racing and touring cyclist - absolutely loves
this frame. He disappears most lunchtimes to enjoy
the Velocità's ride. He says "I am
59 years of age and this bike turns back the clock
- turning me into a younger man!"

frame in 853 Pro Team tubing, Campagnolo Record
equipped with alloy crankset and Campagnolo Neutron
wheels - turns the scales at just under 18lbs.
